Hunting Ethics
There is something troubling me with some of the threads/postings over the last several weeks. It would appear there are quite a number of folks posting on this site that measure the quality of the hunt by the number of deer they kill. I would hope that most hunters were beyond the kill part of the hunt and measure their success by the whole experience. The kill is actually the end, and is typically one of the easier parts of the hunt. Locating the animal and fooling them into coming into range is by far the most challenging part. Sticking them with an arrow or shooting them is not that big of a deal. You can practice this portion of the hunt and most folks become rather proficent at it in little to no time. I guess my point is to just ask those hunters who enjoy the kill more than the hunt to be careful with that position. You are intitled and it is your right to enjoy this sport in the manner that best serves you. However, there are a lot of people out there who would love nothing more than to do away with this tradition. They will use untrue stories of over killing and wasted game to further their cause. I ask you only to proceed with caution, there are a lot of eyes watching us.
