I do this and it's probably not recommended either.
I'll shoot a few shots before season to check POI. I will then do a light cleaning. Before I go out to hunt, I'll fire a primer in it and then load it. When that day is over and if I haven't shot anything, I will put the loaded ML, without a primer in it, in the gun safe. I'll break the breach open so the air gets to the back side of the powder also. The golden rod helps to keep the pyrodex dry and I haven't had any corrosive problems yet.
I have thought about "what if" the charge went off in the safe and ruined all my guns but I can't think of why it would. Anyone else do this?
