Mike, I have a 30-30 carbine barrel for my contender and it shouts real nice,and you can use pointed bullets with the contender.Although there is now a contender g-2 that will interchange barrels with the standard contender,but will allow you to cock the gun more than once.With the standard model you must break open the action if you cock the hammer but then decide not to shoot.
