I guess the only thing I can add to this thread is.......

the data you gave was pushing a 162 gr bullet at 3200 fps. A 300 Rum can push a 162 gr bulletfaster than 3200 with a fairly reasonable load. Probably 3300 would be the fps in theminimum of theload range 3450 would probably be the max. A 7mm weatherby to push a 162 gr bullet to 3200 fpswould probablybe either at max or possibly compressed. So I guess what Im trying to say is, you are burning out the 7's barrel to get those results and undershooting the 300 rum to get those results.

You are going by a manual, and alot of times the numbers as far as velocity etc are hard to achieve. I would have tosit down with a 7 weatherby and my 300 rum and compare such ballistics first hand before I would say it blows the 300 ultra away.

Im just trying to give you MY THEORY on what you have posted. I dont know exactly because I dont shoot Hornady bullets nor do I own a 7 STW or Weatherby. Im just trying to give you my opinion.
