Wow! I'm really suprised at how many people would shoot beyond 30 yards at a deer under actual hunting conditions. Maybe this is why there are so many "Hit him but couldn't find him" posts on this forum

. Yes, when I practice in the back yard under perfect conditions I too can hit my mark at 40 or even 50 yards. But for me, I won't shoot unless I
knowthat I
willhit within an inch or two of the particular hair that I am aiming at
every time. For me that's usually 30 yards but I'd really prefer 20 to 25. I think too many guys take shots they
can make instead of shots they
know they will make. Yes, maybe I could make a doulbe lung shot on a deer at 45 yards3 times out of 5 but the other 2 would be wounded animals. Maybe I've been "lucky" but I've recovered every deer I ever shot with a bow so far and I think it's because I'm real picky about taking shots I know I can make even if it means going an entire season without takinga shot like last year.
