thankss alot guys......thats some good info......and makes my day......looks like my dreams CAN come true......i just love carrying a flintlock........and think it would be awesome to tinker with a flintlock shotgun......how well do smoothbores pattern?? thats a straight cylinder....but could i have the bores end choked to take tubes?? i know if you have say a straight modified barrel a gunsmith can tap it to take chokes....but dont know about a smoothbore....but if you shoot turkeys are 35-40yds with a .62 cal i wouldnt have a problem at all busting birds with a .72cal..........man that would be a HECK of a giant roundball!! thats a mini cannon! lol........ill look into smoothbores after class and check out that link........thanks guys.......now ill be looking for someone that makes a bigole smoothbore and components to fit it.....i have a 50cal hawken tc flinter now......i cant drop in a larger barrel could i?? they are diffrent sizes correct?? or could i drop in a 54 or 62 cal smooth bore barrel in?? just wondering since i got the gun...i could spare a little cash this summer for a smoothbore barrel for it and get the shotgun rolling next season if that wouldwork but i dont know about that....cant wait lol....that would be awesome!!!
Made by Green Mountain, my .54cal (.28ga) Flint smoothbore barrel is 15/16", specifically made as adrop-in barrel for the .45/.50cal TC Hawken stock...contact Ed Cain at Cain's Outdoor, West VA.,..he'll order it for you...$150...and it shoots Hornady .530 roundballs into a 3" aim point sticker at 50yds (90grns Goex 3F + OxYoke wonderwad+ .010" prelubed patch)...and excellent smoothbore barrel...
