I'd say ignorance mostly. Most people seam to think coyotes are out there killing deer everyday when in fact well over 95% of their diet consist of mice,insects and carrion. Yeah theres a few problem critters out there eating free running cats etc. I own and operate a Nuisance Wildlife Control company and have yet to open up a coyote's stomach and find deer or anything else they shouldnt be eating. Some people just need to hate,IMHO.
