Default RE: Why the Hatred towards Coyotes?

I have no dislike towards coyotes. They are simply a nuisance when their numbers are high and I prefer to eliminate some of them whenever I can. The wolf and cougar are natural enemies that will control them to some extent, but since the wolf is all but gone and cougars have very limited numbers in limited range, it's up to man to thin them out. I'm just doing my part.

As for hunting ethics, I treat them like any other animal. If you can justify shooting a running rabbit or a flying grouse, then the same logic can be used on a coyote or a deer. If you think you have a very good chance of taking them cleanly, then take the shot. For me, a 10 yard shot at the head would be a piece of cake, if it wasn't moving. And, if you hit 'em near the middle of the head head they ain't going anywhere.
