Default RE: Powder Picky........what do you think?

ORIGINAL: Bloodstayn

Ok heres my story. I use goex FF in my TCA white mountain carbine. I wanted to try those pyrodex 50 gr pellets, but TCA reccomended against it. They say you need more spark than a percussion cap to get consitent fire, so I just never tried it. I am one of those guys that find something that works and sticks to it, and I dont plan on making any changes until the end of muzzle loader season. But I am finding in my area that goex FF is getting harder and harder to find. As it is now, I have to drive into the next town just to get it, and since they are the only place, they are charging more and more. With everybody's experience, what are my other options. The place around the corner from my house sells this black powder substitute, but they are willing to order me anything. Any suggestions. I just bought an inline, that i will probably hunt next year, but I love shooting that white mountain carbine, it has some sentimental value. Help me out please.
If muzzleloading is a significant hobby to you, like golf is to others, and you shoot/enjoy muzzleloaders year round, the best possible long term powder price is buying it by the case.

I shoot Flintlocksyear round and geta 25lb case of Goex delivered to my door for$10.25/lb...and the dirtributors will mix a case up as you like...I usually get 1lb 4F, 4lbs 2F, and 20lbs 3F.

If you don't shoot year round and/or don't want to lay out that much $$ all at once, try to find another guy or two to split a case with...it's by far the cheapest way to get powder.

(I order mine from a Goex distributor called JJPyrotechnics in Moscow, PA)
