Can someone explain the proper barrel break-in procedures on a new rifle?
Clean after every shot or two or three? Is it even necessary? What type of cleaning tools would you use? 1 piece rod or bore snake? What type of cleaning solvent? Sorry if this is a repeat topic.
It might make a difference with a benchrest rifle, I cannot say. However, for a HUNTING rifle, it is a total waste of time and ammo! Just clean your rifle well after each range session, and it will shoot like this (5 shots, 100 yards, Douglas Premium-grade barrel, 6mm/284, NO special treatment).
