I thought I'd add a little tidbit of info I got today, since it fits in to the theme of this thread.
My buddy that lives in WV called last night. He has 100 acres that we hunt on, and practice QDM on. Anyhow in this area of WV, there are alot of deer, fairly poor genetics, and alot of pressure. We also have some genetic traits we see fairly often. One being piebalds. 3 years ago, a piebald fawn buck showed up at his place. We watched him...cool looking deer. The following year he was spike with about 4 inch horns.Last year he was still alive (which is a feat in itself up there, even if he wasn't half white) and he again was a spike with larger, cow horn type spikes.
So anyhow...he calls and asks me if I remember the deer....I say of course I do, he's the piebald we've seen for a while. He says "he's still here, and he's a 15" 8point now".
WOW! That is a huge jump from 2.5 to 3.5

We'd probably have never known if he wasn't so identifiable, being half white.
It just goes to show you....let them go, and they will grow
Good luck guys!
