RE: Official Team 20 Thread
Congrats Quick... I know what you mean by itchy trigger fingers.. I hope you have as good of luck on your out of state trips. Nice thing with Illinois having the two buck tags is that you can work to improve when you go for the second one, if that is what floats your boat.
Sounds like you had a better day than I did.. I knew mine was going to be bad the moment I got out there.. Something about the location just didn't feel right and it turned out I was right.. I am going to have to switch to the climber for a while as the deer traffic was all over the place, just no where within my vision.. Even heard a couple bucks knocking heads about 300 or so yards to the east of me.. Couldn't see them, they were down in a ravine but I sure heard them.. Not serious fighting but there was some crashing around and some antlers a crashing for a while right at dawn.. Just was the wrong location for today.... I didn't stink, didn't move to much, the squirrels didn't even notice until I had to get the heck out of dodge because I had a work emergency that in 2 weeks can be handled by someone else I hope...
I am thinking of going out again tomorrow but we shall see... I probably won't have the time. I need to work the edges of cover more instead of these trails right now... When the corn is out these place will pick up nice I think but for now, they are just hanging in that corn field... Maybe that Hickory patch will make a nice place to hunt.. And I am sure the Summit stand will be more comforatble than the other one I was in today..
To add injury to insult this day, I stupidly sliced a finger when I loaded a broadhead tipped arrow onto my bow.. Damn that thing was sharp.. So, deer 1, Anthony 0 so far this year. Oh well, it was nice to hear the birds and head the crashing going around, I did miss seeing my Red fox this year, going to have to move over to his neck of the woods, that was always fun watching him run around first thing in the morning during a hunt last winter.
