RE: bad shot please help
If you waited at least an hour before you trailed him then there is a good chance that he may be down. If you think you may have bumped him he could be a long way by now. I have found at times especially bucks will tend to circle back to watch for the danger so you will have to start a grid search. Checking near the water is always a good place but if that fails go back to the last spot you had blood and see if the deer made a straight line to that spot or seems to be circling. Look over the terrain and decide where you would go if you were hurt and wanted to hide. Get some friends and spread out from the hit site and check all available cover. If this doesn't work go back to the hit site and start going in increasing circles.
