If you use a pop up then make sure you conceal it the best you can with wwhat ever is natural in the field.Break up the edges and the top with grass or whatever vines and branches.I would not hunt it for atleast a week.Give them time to get used to it.Also I would cinsider getting a decent ladder stand and setting up in the apples.it doesnt have to be very high.I hunt a orchard myself.I find that sometimes it is best to set up in a apple tree that has decent cover .I only use 2 srctions of ladder and lean it up against a good size tree. You may have to trim a few branches but I dont think the owner would be upset as long as you didnt butcher the tree. You can also use rope and tie the branches off to the sides and the middle to give yourself some extra cover in front of your stand. You must play the wind and I would suggest using some kind of apple cover scent. You can take and cut up apples and boil them down and use the water that is left to use as a cover spray.
I would also consider setting up a stand in the ever greens. This will conceal you very well.Again you will have to do some trimming and such but it would be a good place. You have the stand in theorchard for the evenings and the stand in the ever greens in the morning.
I am curious as to what you do do and how it works out.Let us know.Or PM me if you have any questions that I may be able to help out with.
I have even used one of the three legged ladders that they use at orchards to set on and got very close. They are used to seeing them all the time and they dont spook them at all.
