i have heard and read that instead of ranging the deer range the tree right besied him at your eye levelin the stand. best thing to do is take some trail tape and range from the ground and from your tree to get the distances around your stand then no guess work when shooting. best way to know is to shoot from different heights and ranges to see. just my .02
