If the string just looks "hairy" it is ok. Wax it up and keep shooting. Now, if there are some strands broken, that's a new ballgame. Get that string replaced. You may as well replace the cables too. I think you can get new strings and cables for your bow in the neighborhood of 60 bucks. The Hoyt Gamegetter is a great bow. It will most certainly kill any deer you shoot.
