You can take some Black Electrical tape . Wrap it around the scope then slide the cover over the tape.I've had to do this with a couple of them.I've heard of some putting Silicone sealant on then sliding the cover on. Once it sets it pretty secure.I've never tried the silicone so it's hearsay.. I have lost a couple covers walking through brush. So far I have found them. That's when the Black tape comes in handy if they fit loosely.

Using silicone wouldn't be my choice. Once that silicone is set it’s nearly permanent. You would probably have to cut off the covers and then use silicone remover to remove any residue. All depending on how much would be applied of course.
Also, instead of using black electrical tape I would much prefer using the white teflon tape that plumbers use for sealing threads. It would hold on pretty good and wouldn’t leave any mess when removed. Just a thought.
By the way, I did forget to lift my flip up covers last year and had a good size doe get away. This was the first year I had used these covers and it had snowed so the covers were doing there job until it came time to pull the trigger.
