If I had the money I would have mounted the button buck my daughter shot on our first ever hunt. . It would have helped to remind me every day of how much that day meant. It had nothing to do with the size of the deer. I would have used that mount so I could tell the story to everyone that would listen. I do it here, in these forums.

I never considered mounting my buck that I got last year (my first deer) It just didn't have the same meaning. Was it exciting ? Yes. Just never thought about it.

I'm new though and maybe one day I will let many deer walk for the chance at a big deer. In the places that I have available to me to hunt, I'm lucky to see a deer that day. So for now every deer is a trophy (not necessarily a mount).
