Well no bull this time out.
We left abou 7pm on Saturday and got to our destination about 11 pm.Set up camp and hit the sack.Up at 4:30 am and got our written permisson from him around 5 am(don't worry he was up already).
walked in about 2 miles and set up just befor daylight on elk trails leaving alfalfa feilds.Tried some soft cow calling,called in a cow and calf about 7:30 am but no bulls.Left there about 9 and hiked in to some water holes looking for sign and wallowing,but no luck.Sat out the rest of the afternoon till about 4 in the evening(got realy hot around a 100 degrees).Left the water hole and made a big walk down a ridge that circles back into the feilds hoping to ambush a herd heading back,but no luck.
Stopped back at ranch house about 8 pm and visted with rancher and 2 hunters who had killed a 6-point(nice bull).
Went back to camp and ate some dinner and hit the hay,up at 4:30 and did the same thing over again,saw a small 5 point and a spike of in the distance and tried to circle around them to maybe get a shot but they beat me over the ridge.Got back to camp about 3pm and packed up and headed home.
I will give it another shot this weekend and hopefully it will cooldown and they will get alittle more vocal.
