I am assuming that you are not referring to a climber. That being said, I have had one of my permanant stands set up for about 2 1/2 months now (our season started Sept. 7th) but the only reason for that was I couldn't resist hanging it any longer. I had to get out an feel as if the season was starting <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I plan on hanging another stand in the next 2-3 weeks (when I get around to it) and will hunt out of it the next day if the weather permits. Just wear rubber boots when entering/ working/ exiting the woods....the deer will "forget" about you and the fact that you were there in just a couple of hours. This is just my experience. Hope it puts your mind at ease.
