The difference is typical...the bigger bullet is slower but probably packs a little more punch at shorter ranges. It depends a LOT on the type of bullet used. Remington has pretty good ballistic tables... heres one for the 30-30 Win....

Interesting side note: a lot of current research is calling into question the idea that a bigger, slower bullet is a better brush bullet.
