RE: Havoctec too short
Frank: Hoyt does make a 34" ATA. It's the HavocTec with the ZR-200 limbs. Many people don't realize this and I've had to explain it to a lot of customers.
I've always contended short ATA for shorter draw lengths and longer ATA for longer draw lengths. It's really a matter of comfort in shooting for varying archers' draw lengths. Comfort will aid in being more confident and accurate.
Yes, the contrary can be done by good shooters; but, aren't we or shouldn't we be concerned about the average shooter on the forums? I know I always try to keep the average shooter in mind when giving advice. Not saying that you guys don't - just stating my position.
In this particular situation, I would strongly recommend a string loop. Severe arrow pinch could cause the arrow to fall off the string at just the moment that you go to pull the trigger and cause a dry-fire. Been there, done that.
