The 280 is getting a Bum rap here on the bullet weight. Long before the 7 Mag was even a thought, the 7mm bullets were made to perform in the 7x57 Mauser. As such, all those bullets work even better in the 280. You compare the 270 with its 130, 140 1nd 150 as good deer medicine then say the 280 won't perform with 175 grain bullets. Well how about the 140, 150 and 160 grain bullets in the 280. We are talking deer here. The 7x57 performed very well all over the world with 175 grain bullets. I have used many of them in my old Mauser. Oops the Bank just called and approved my new pick-up. Gotta Go.
