Default RE: Elk Hunting in Colorado

I just got back from my elk hunting trip to Colorado last week. I had expected it to be warm..........but we got the exact opposite! It rained for the majority of my trip. The temperatures were in the low 50's on most days. We woke up to snow a few times as well! Be prepared for ANYTHING! As for the scent lock suits, I am not personally a big fan of them. I think they are more hype than help. Besides, we hunted (Hiked!) so much and so hard I feel we would have sweated up the scent lock suits to the point of them being useless. Just follow the basics.........keep the wind in your favor! My budy and I used this philosophy and I got a real nice 5x6 herd bull 3-days into our hunt. After that we ALMOST got several different 6x6's! The elk were all at or above treeline. Be prepared to climb! Good luck.
