True but the 308 caliber bullet of that weight has a much higher SD and BC. You are comparing a heavy weight for calber bullet to a light weight for caliber bullet. Its fine by me that the 338 has its supporters, I far prefer the 375 for game thats big and mean. I also prefer a lighter faster round for long range or game smaller than moose and bears. Its not like I never used the 338 because I have. Just not my idea of of a caliber suited for either deer size or grizzly size game. Just as many think that the 270 and 7mm-08 are to light for elk, its a matter of expierence and preference I have proved my oppinions to myself and in the end, thats what matters.

The 338 is fine for elk but has not proved to me that it will outperform the 300 for that purpose. The elk I have shot with the 270 size rounds have gone down like a bag of rocks so I never could see the need for more blast and recoil than I needed.
