That is close to what it is like here in Nevada, except we get our results in June. We apply between Mid March to Mid April for all species. The results are out the second Friday of June. Only problem is we don't know what the quotas will be either. They don't finish the counts until around earlly April, then have to go through the entire process of getting the quotas approved, which doesn't get done until about Mid May, then they do the drawing, and the second week of June, start sending stuff out. That still gives you time to plan even with the early opening of the Archery deer, cow elk, and antelope hunts in August. It used to be you didn't apply until the counts were done and quotas set, but then you wouldn't get the results back until the end of July, which would only give youa couple of weeks in some cases to plan your hunt.
