any good 240gr or heaver will work. i do not like hp for a hunting hndgun. up untill resntly most hp were for diffence gns pople not hunting. some ammo companys havestarted making hp disined for hunting so on of them would be ok on deer. i had rather have a jsp o hard cast on the hogs or bear. on the bear i would go with the heavest i could find 300gr +. a 44 mag will handle most handgun hunting fine.i hv used 357 and 45 longs on hogs and deer. with no prolems the 357 with 158 gr jsp and the 45 with 255 and 260 gr hard cast.
