Why when I showed you the .243 has more energy than the 30-30 you said that doesnt mean nothing.
Actually, when you are comparing the .243 and the .30-30, Energy really doesn't mean anything. These are two totally different cartridges designed to kill completely differently. The .243 does it by shock (hydrostatic), due to the velocity of the bullet, and the .30-30 does it by creating a large wound channel, while still creating a somewhat smaller amount of hydrostatic shock than what the .243 can produce. Another thing, is the .30-30 is really not much good beyond 150 yds anyway, and the .243 probably shouldn't be used on deer beyond 300 (at least the big bodied mulies anyway

And for the record, I have seen deer killed with BOTH cartridges, the deer hit with the .243 ran about 50 yds, the one with the .30-30 ran not quite so far. Each killed differently. Those were on smaller bodied deer. Which one would I take out of the closest if I had the choice?
