Default RE: How the .243 stacks up

This chart looks pretty good to me. IF you take each calibers killing power at its optimum range. If you use the comparison of the 44 Mag and the 25-06, If you have ever shot a critter with a 44 Mag rifle within its effective range, You could not doubt its efffectivness. It just knocks them flat. It has awsum power at close range. I believe at the start of the tables he states that these results are based on the proper bullet and range. Even with a 5 inch revolver at 50 yards it takes game down fast.

Take both calibers and move the critter out to 200-250 yards and things change in a hurry. Same with the 243 and 30-30 anyone who has shot many critters within a 100 yards can't doubt the ability of the 170 grain 30-30 at that range. As the range increases you loose velocity which is ONE LEG of the killing formula.

Virgina 7. This is an excellent table and SHOULD help explain why things work as they do. ALL THE ELEMENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PAINT A FULL PICTURE OF KILLING POWER. The 243 used within its effective range both in yards and in critter size, has its place. I just don't go to that place much. Good luck to those who do.
