Default RE: Is savage a good gun??????????

I bought mine when JFK was the President-Elect. I used it enough to take the edge of the accuracy and had it rebored to a 6.5 mm wildcat called the .263 Express. Nowdays they call that round the .260 Remington. I think the best ones came after the '64 redesign and before the Satin Slide bolt. I don't think much of their synthetic stocks, they remind me of the ones from Butler Creek, kinda rubbery where they should be stiff. I think there are some models with a bedding block, they ought to be really accurate. I'd buy another if I was lookin' for an inexpensive rifle, maybe even the Stevens 200 without the accutrigger.
