I agree with Roskoe about the grip size, you should definitely try one to make sure you like it. I do disagree with SHoNUFF tho, the large frame guns do help with recoil. I have a Glock 20, which is the same exact size but in 10mm. Even shooting full power 10mm, which is quite a bit more powerful than 40 or 45, I have no problems with recoil.
