I have the G21 and love it. IT has never failed me or jammed once. Recoil is absorbed well and not a problem and I can hit pretty well with it as well. The 45ACP is a good stopping round. The feel of the gun is perfect for my hand.

ORIGINAL: Gundigest

I have never shot one but I have handled tham a few times. I don't care for Double Action Only and I hate the slide release. I don't know what I am doing wrong but it never wants to work easily.

I would buy a Sig, HK or Ruger first.
I own the Glock 22 and the 27. Absolutely love them. The double action is better for me and the slide release is what sells me on them. Makes it easy to clean, especially compared to a 1911 which I got rid of!

brother hal,
Given a choice of 45's mine would be the Sig Sauer P220. I have had one since 1992 and I have had not one ounce of trouble.

Swampman - I'll look at the Sig. Thanks for all the responses!

The P220 also has a large grip as well(double stack too), you may not like it either. I've had my Glock 21 for 4 years and put thousands of rounds through it(200 per week for a while- may not seem like much to a lot of you but I don't reload and it gets pricey). I've used it in temperatures varying from -40 up to 85(these are the absolute extremes here in northern Vermont), and it has jammed only twice, this was DUE TO AMMUNITION. I don't use Speer Lawman anymore because of that one day. The two rounds were from the same box; one went off roughly 4secs late and landed 20 feet away(I'm glad it didn't get stuck in the barrel) and couldn't push the slide back, the next one had a deformed case and wouldn't chamber. I've been told since that this was a fluke and that Speer Lawman ammo is good- but you don't come back from an experience like that(not to mention the powder is almost as smokey as black powder).
