As for cracking limbs, I guarantee you EVERY manufature out there has the same problem. the Blanks that are used to create Limbs are far from defect free. As any bow hunter has seen or heard of at their local proshop. ....But then again you did say you have always liked Mathews, maybe you don't know better! Sorry had to go there!!!
