I can only see one reason for shooting a deer out of season. Funds are nill and you need to feed your family. Period. This doesn't sound like one of those cases.

When I was young we lived out in the sticks. When times were tough, and they often were, we took deer out of season. Not in the middle of the night and just enough to get by. We hunted for the very reason God put deer and the like on this earth. My father never hunted for trophies and never killed just for the sake of killing something. Only to provide for his family when we really need it.

I feel times were much different back then than they are now and our situation was much different than most have experienced. I agree with others that have responded to your post if this is some yahoo just having "fun" nail him to the wall, but...

If it was out of necessity (I have a feeling it wasn't, why he would shoot a fawn in that case is still stupid) you should not blow the whistle on this guy. Is this making sense? I feel there can be too radical of a view on this subject.

Anyway, I'll probably get blasted by someone for my opinions and that advice but I don't think anyone can criticize shooting game out of season for those reasons untill you've really been there.
