RR, I was wanting to store the rifles in their boxes due to the safe being overcrowded. I really can't afford a new safe right now. What about gun socks? How much protection do they really provide? I believe some of them are treated with something.
F4YG the safe situation is a on going problem for allot of us.Seems like whatever size someone buys they always seem to shrink.I've been there and done that.
I've seen these "Gun Socks" advertised but that's about it. I've never taken the time to look at them.I believe they are treated with probably silicone. How much protection they offer I don't know.
I solved a storage problem years ago for handguns. I got some 1/2"solid rod. I mounted the rod above a shelf I made for extra precaution in case something was to go wrong. If for some reason the rods were to give way the guns could only fall a couple inches. The Rods go width wise almost to the top of the safe. I then made separate bags for the guns to go in. I wipe them down with RIG,put them in the plastic bags. Then they are inserted in the bags I made. I took Hog Rings and put them through the tops of the bags. I got some Cafe Curtain rod hooks.Put the hooks through the hog rings and hang them on the rods.Same principal has hanging clothes in your closet.I put some small tags on the bags so it's easy to identify what's in the bag. It's just like moving your clothes.Slide them to one side get what you're looking for.You can hang allot of guns in a small space. It was an idea I came up with and it has worked out really good.
