Looking for thoughts on a 280 rem. Have an opportunity to pick up one for a good price, it is a custom gun, 700 BDL Deluxe.
Whats your thought on this caliber?

Mostly used for deer, but maybe moose or elk. I have already a 270 win and was looking adding a 7mm , maybe a 300 win and then this came along.

What about factory ammo? The guy that owns it shoots only 140 Ballistic Tips hand loaded. He suggested not to use factory ammo in the 280. Is their a reason? I eventually want to reload, but not for a while, so I need to use over the counter for now.
