".... if u were really a camp master u would know that what ever weapon people choose is up to them...."
In your camp, if you have one, perhaps so; however, not so in ours. Probably a difference in definition. No one hunts with us with less than 30-06 power --- period. Some folks that wanted to go with us have “howled” about that rule and that’s okay, we just let’em howl, but it doesn’t help ’em out any as far as their going with us.
".... u also remind me of one of those guys that shoot your elk right in the shoulder!"
Regarding shoulders, IMO they are much larger and run much deeper than just the “blade” area, plus some folks count muscle structure in the definition of "shoulder" and on elk it is quite large. For me, sometimes "shoulders" get in the way of “boiler room trajectory” and sometimes they don’t. The “whitetail broadside pose” sure is pretty and I never turn it down if it's offered, but then again I sure don’t get too hung up on it if it isn’t presented quickly.
I for sure don't waste any extra time "waiting for it".
".... do shoot them just behind the heart(right in the a$$)...."
Regarding the “Texas Heart Shot”, I’ve never taken one in all these years; however, if that was all a wounded elk was showing me right before he was about to make it into cover, then I’d have no qualms about sending one his way (and I know the rifle I use will be up to the challenge of "drilling" him from one end to the other if called upon to do so!)
We cut our own meat in camp and divide it up before everyone goes home, so I’m a bit familiar with meat damage issues; however, the biggest waste of meat I’ve seen is a whole elk rotting away --- unfound by the hunter. Hence, regarding meat loss from shoulder shots, I strive to use sound judgment in weighing that “trade off” versus the success of seizing the opportunity followed by the successful acquisition and retrieval of the animal.
When the action “goes down” and it’s “showtime”, things are not always as clear cut in reality as some simple folk would like to make it sound when they are on the Internet. IMHO, things will vary substantially according to how individual situations unfold.
“…. but let this stupid thead die….”
That is rather difficult to do when folks (such as yourself) keep bumping it back up to the top of the section after days of inactivity. Once it is up there, then I feel free to respond to the post if I so choose.... and so it goes.

BTW, Ronnie.....
So, does Cabelas or someone else out there make a “Elk Hunting Video Game” for that Sony Playstation you are trying to buy for $85? Somehow, given what I've seen in the last half dozen or so posts, it would just seem so appropriate.
