New Cammo & Coverscent or Stupid Deer
Went out yesterday evening to finish cutting some trails with a weedwacker. Was well doused in Deepwoods Off and even spilled some premix on my boots filling up the wacker.
1/2 hour into weedwacking, sweating my butt off, I look up and see 2 does and a nub about 40 yards away - DOWNWIND!. I'm working my way tword them with the weedwacker going and they just stood there. Now they HAD to have smelled me - Deepwoods Off, Gasoline Premix, Wacker Exhaust & Human Sweat. They were not there when I first got to the site, so they must have come out after I started working. Why no reaction?
I end up passing them at a distance of 25 yards, and they just stand there browsing in the alfalfa watching and chewing. All looked very healthy, 1 of the does was very heavy sided, a big girl.
They were within 35 yards of where I am planning to put my ground blind (next to a hayroll). Is this good news or bad? I don't think that they were spooked, but eventually they did wander off.
