This is my first turkey, couldnt be happier! Then on top of it, he has a small second beard! Main beard is 8 3/4, second is 2 1/2, spurs were just shy of an inch, I score them at 15/16, he didnt weigh to much though, according to our baby scale,(dont tellthe wife I used this!) he weighed in at exactly 14 lbs.

Your score is 14 + 9.375 + 9.375 + 22.5 = 55.25

Congrats on your first bird man.

That first one is always going to be one you will never forget.

Way to go Johnnybravo! Congrats on your first bird. A friend and I went out this morning. We moved on some distant birds and got close to one that seemed interested. Unfortunately, someone else was working that bird too. He let loose a gobble in response to my calling just to get cut off by a shotgun blast. That was the last we heard all morning. Oh well, I'll keep at it.

Congrats Johnnybravo!

I missed my best opportunity this weekend. Had 2 gobblers come in and one came in behind me and spotted me and the other came in JUST barely out of range (in retrospect he was probably in range) and then instead of coming in to my decoy, he walked off gobbling the whole way. I kept talking back to him for nearly an hour but he never came back.

I might get back out one more time but it's looking pretty iffy.

Sorry boys, I wimped out this morning. Woke up at 3 for the hour + drive for the CT opener, but it was pouring rain. I got dressed anyway, figured I'd grab my pop up blind and go, but when my dog refused to go out because of the weather I figured I should be as smart as he is. I went back to sleep. I'll try to get out over the weekend.
