Nice ones DTC, ol thick beard needs to fall! I'm gettin ready to head out. I think today I'm gonna go down to the pastures and sit on the cabin porch in the rain and see what I can see. I'll do the same Sunday, then Monday through Friday the blood and feathers will fly. I'll check back in after the break when I have internet again, hopefully with a few good ones. Later guys!

Guess I better get in here and visit. Been very busy lately. Anyhoo, I been hunting these birds for only 12 years, and still learning! I'm from MO. and have my own ground to hunt, plus my neighbors. My best is a 22 lb with three beards, 3", 5", 10.5" and 1 1/8 spurs. I do have a 24 lber that I mounted in flight pose, that has Ivory colored spurs that are 1 1/4 inch long on both sides. If ya want to see them, let me know, I'll post pics of both of them. This year I volunteered for the Conservation Dept. youth hunt on April 3 & 4. Hope to help get some youth his or her first bird. I'm really looking forward to this year,A friend on the forum here, made me some custom box calls out of some Oak that I harvested off of my property,(I like to dable in woodworking) Let me tell ya, they sound as good as they look!!! Not to mention to try and make up for last year. Last year I was in a bad car wreck, and missed the season, except for like 2 days! DTC, I see you posted you were from MO. What part are you from? I live Grain Valley, just east of KC. Looks like you got some nice birds where you hunt, Good luck with them!!! Sounds like we got some good vets on here, I'm excited!!! and whatever you guys decide for a name, I'm fine with it!!! Good luck to ALL!!!

I got us one opening day in the rain fellas. Three years straight, opening day birds. I can't post the pics yet cause they're on my moms phone and I didn't bring em with me down here. I'll get him posted by Saturday or Sunday. I put his measurements in the calculator, should be about 58 or so. He had a 10 inch beard and spurs a little less than an inch, weighed 22 lbs 2 oz. Gobbled like crazy from about 11 til I shut him up at 1:45, swear he gobbled a hundred times or more. Since then I've been every day this week and heard gobbling every morning but they keep gettin henned up down in the hollows. It's almost impossible to get down into the hollows without spookin em off the roost. I've been taking friends like an idiot and they never have the patience to wait em out like me. Going by myself tomorrow and Saturday and I know where at least 3 other birds are roosting so hopefully I can bag another one for us. We'll be on the board Saturday though. I'll get back on here Saturday night and post those pics. Gobble Gobble!
