Default Feelings and Worries

Hey
I have been Deer Hunting for 2 to 3 years now.
I have seen alot of Deer since i have started.
But have not harvested one yet.
I am starting to think i will never ever in my whole life ever harvest a Deer. Yall i have no clue what is wrong with me .
I am starting to think i am unlucky and will never get a Deer.
I hope i get a Deer before season is over to end this UNLUCKY STREAK.
THanks for Reading

son they wouldn't call it hunting if everytime you went out you got something.

My advice to you is make sure your rifle is sighted in. make sure you can gut a deer. Be prepared. If your seeing deer, you'll get one. But you don't want to ruin the moment wiht a bad shot or a deer in front of you and not knowing what to do next.

Make sure your ready to take a shot at a deer and once your there, Wait and be patient. your time will come. Dont' start gettin trigger happy and take shots that you know you shouldn't. I have passed up a good number of deer for one reason or another. If I feel the shot is risky, i don't take it.

This will be my 6th year hunting. I have shot 1 buck, 1 doe. I have dropped both of them where they stood. Thats a good feeling.

MY brother will be on his 8th year hunting. He has killed a deer and sometimes 2 every year he's hunted except one. I cannot tell you how not fun it is to chase a deer miles because of a poor shot. I have learned from my brothers mistakes. Trust me, its not fun to wound a deer. Thats not a good feeling

Your time will come, just be ready for it

Yes be patient and things will work out. I had to wait for my second season to get a deer and it feels really good when you get one. I also dropped mine on the spot and was a clean quick kill that I'm proud to talk about.

Your time will come and believe me when it does you will never forget the first one.I have been hunting for 40yrs now and I still remember my first deer a small 5pt in my second season as if it were yesterday.
Hang in there the longer it takes the more rewarding it will be.
Good Luck to you this year.

Are you going out alone or are there some "oldtimers" there that can help you out reading signs and choosing stand positions?
Remember that even when gun hunting we have to hunt the wind, try to keep it in your face. If you are hunting a stand get comfortable and dress warm, once settled in you should be able to stay still and quiet for long lengths of time, if still hunting slow down, stop look and listen every few steps.
I hunt with a fellow that wreaks havoc on waterfowl, best shot on the marsh, but in 20yrs hes never shot a deer, his problem is that hes the last one out and the 1st back to camp, you have to spend the time in the woods, you won't shoot anything sitting around the camp.

In reality Wide Eyes hit the nail on the head, hunting shouldn't produce meat on every outing, that would make it boring. Everyone remembers their 1st, and the drought you are experiancing will make it even more special when you get one.

dont worry about it your time will come...ive been chasing long beards for 4 years and have yet to fire a shot..i think i just like watching them! lol i always have a chance atleast once a year...i just say wait a few more secs u will havea PERFECT shot..then he walks the way i thought he wouldnt and dissappears..you will get a deer sooner or later...i know guys that sit in horrible spots that still see a deer or 2 a year...just be prepared for that moment you never know when one will come by you...i would suggest finding someone that knows alot about deer hunting and taking you under the wing and teaching you...sure deer live in the woods...but they like certain areas that it takes a while to find and the best way is from and seasoned hunter to show you...good luck!

Travis!! *hugs* I really wouldnt worry about not getting your 1st deer yet. It takes time and everytime you go hunting you learn more. So dont be upset about not getting ur 1st deer yet. They will come and then you will blow them away! Good~Luck and dont ever give up!
