First Bobcat of 2015 - vid
Well into the second night in a row of hunting at TBR in Montague County, TX, waiting for one of several boars that were showing up on camera, this little bobcat appeared at the treeline just north of my stand.
It was a beautiful evening with great weather, unseasonably warm temps, low humidity, and plenty of animal activity.
I could not get her attention well enough to turn her around and she started to walk off. At one point, I thought she might turn around, but no luck. I opted for a Texas heart shot with the idea that the 6.5 Grendel would easily pass all the way down the body and I managed to push the shot and missed the cat at 75 yards. No impact = No penetration.
The cat was obviously startled and after returning to earth was finally in a nice broadside position and standing still. She was immediately dropped with a followup shot that entered the side of her neck and tore out a goodly amount of tissue and exited the other side.
She was over 15 lbs, but I did not put her on the scale for an exact weight.
The landowner is happy because this helps with his wildlife management plan.

Good job - Nice cat !
I just got my rug back from the one I got last year...............now I'll have two rugs on one wall SXS - One male & one female.
Full body mounts are too expensive for me anyway.
BTW - I broke down and watched a "Double Naughty Spy" video ..................Very good !

I am using an Armasight Zeus 3 (3x optical) which is a 640x480 resolution thermal scope with a 75mm lens. The view through the scope, as you might imagine, is better than the feed taken off to the little mdvr that is then compressed for playback by Youtube.
I should have gone to 2 times zoom (digital zoom = simulated 6x) and the video would have been better, but at the time looking through the scope, I didn't feel like I needed to use any zoom. In other words, looking through the scope definitely makes you feel closer than looking at the video on the computer screen.
