I have been shooting blk powder for about 30 years and currently shoot a T/C Encore. I have found that at the range, I get the best performance when I clean the barrel after every shot, with 50. cal barrel, I use a 45. cal jag, with a wet patch ,followed by at least 2 dry patches. this ensures that you shoot a clean barrel every shot. as far as sighting in your rifle, it is just going to take a lot of trigger time, and don't get set one one powder charge, try several to find out what works best with your setup. with mine, I use 110gr of tripple 7 loose powder and Winchester primers with a 250 gr shockwave. I sighted dead on at 150 yrds being 2'' low at 200 yrds, about 2 1/2 '' high at 100 yrds and 4'' high a 50 yrds
