I was just at a gun show in Granton, NS and bought a Anschutz 111 22 rifle it has CIL marked on it a couple places. I know CIL was the largest supplier of blasting powder, ammunition, and paint many years ago, but other than this i know nothing about this rifle, i paid 50 dollars for it in good condition and had it out too shoot this afternoon and was very impessed with the rifles accuracy and features like the two stage trigger. i was hopeing somebody could tell me a little about this gun and why it is stmped CIL.

Canadian Industries Limited as you were aware made black powder, fertilizer and etc. Their ammo line became very popular and they decide to market firearms. Anschutz 22 cal. became one of the models they sold it came in basically 3 models. The 111 used a halfmoon extractor and was replaced around 1967 with an extractor arm much like todays firearms. It originally sold in 1965 for about $18.00.

I also have an Anschutz. No model id anywhere, barrel is marked Cal. 22 long rifle, action is marked w/ serial # and J.G. Anschutz GmbH. Waffenfabrik Ulm/D Germany. Its a single shot also w/ adjustable trigger. Action also has rails for scope mounting. This thing shoots like crazy, its really a dream, on calm days I set up clay pigeons and shoot them at 200yds hitting 3/5 or 4/5 in a string. Any info on this rifle? P.S. I dismantled it and looked all over the place.[&:]

With out any serial numbers or markings it's pretty tuff to get info on this rifle. Because it was made in Ulm Germany it was produced in 1950 or later. The original plant was dismantled after WWII, and started back up in Ulm. Anschutz and Savage-Anschutz rifles have been used for many shooting competitons through out the years and are still available today. They still make olympic competiton and biathalon rifles.

Where would I look for info, serial # is there and I would like to know about the history of this rifle. All I know is that my dad gave it to me when I was 12 in Germany. Many moons ago.
