Default cleaning kits

I went to purchase some clean gun kits. The kind with the wire brush and a rope that you pull through the barrel. I was told they were on recall. Does anybody know why?

I think you must be referring to the boresnake. I have not heard that they were recalled, but I have used them and found that once they go though the bore once they're dirty. DUH I stopped in a local shop who demonstrated the Otis gun cleaning system and I bought one. The tactical kit cleans all my guns and fits in my fanny pack. It can clean every thing from a 17 to a 10ga shotgun cost me $42. The refeshing thing is it is 100% American Made. I understand that it is the official Marine Corps kit now. www.otisgun.com

It takes 19 different boresnakes to clean all the guns that 1 Otis Tactical kit will clean. Boresnakes are $17.00 ea (Cabela's Price) an Otis kit is $42. Looks like you could save enough money to buy another gun. Besides, when you run a clean boresnake down a dirty barrel, doesn't it come out the other end dirty. The Otis parts are quaranteed for life and come with a 30 day satisfaction quarantee.

the boresnake cleans a barrel and nothing else.i have nor seen anything clean the barrel any better. for those who think the snake is dirty all i can say is try it and see. i clean my guns all with snakes.i have 13 rifles and their is not one thing better in the field or bad weather.it is not fpr cleaning the inside nor was it designed for that. i still use the snake at home. when i finish cleaning and oiling i run a patch thru the barrel.it never come out dirty and my snaked are at least 2 years and some 3 years old. i have never paid $18 anywhere for them. i have gotten some from ebay for as little as $9
