Came close, again.
For the second time this season, I passed on an unethical shot. Last Tuesday I had a bruiser come by at 55-60 in 40 mph wind. The same day a had yet a different shooter at 65 broadside in the same wind. These being the only two "shooter" bucks I have seen in approx 85 hours afield this year, it really stung. Tonight, my second to last night with Rob as the cameraman, we had does and a button running around a freshly hung,(yesterday) set. It is an awesome pinch point. When the duo came back they brought a real nice 8 with them. Only problem is he trotted by at 50 in the brush. A little while later, the doe ran under the stand and he never followed. Ten minutes after that we watched a pair of tresspassing turkey hunters ride down the center of the field at 10 minutes to dark.[:@] I was unstrapping to give chase and Robtold me I would nevercatch them. We tried to watch were they went, but the best we got through the trees was that they are one of my neighbors. They were too far away to get anMO on the quad, just knew they were wearing orange. It sucked, but this is a new property for me and has never been posted, it will be after this season. I threw up some at the entrance for now. On the road tomorrow, and then huntingevery night the rest of the week.

55-65 yds in my book is a "sighting".....lol.
Good stuff.

In the grand sceme of things, 25 yards from a shot ain't a whole lot of real estate in the terms of adeer's travels. The buck today needed to be 7 yards closer and stopped. That's close in my book.

RE: Came close, again.
It was a close one tonight.
I just sat and wondered why that doe couldn't have cut down the hill and brought that bruiser right under us. We hung this set where most of the does come out. I thought it was going to be a done deal at one point but to concentrate more on getting the deer in range, I was calling and not filming. I give credit to Ben though, at full draw, a great buck all but in range, kudos Ben, it'll happen.
