Default Man what a bad deer season in Oklahoma!

Well I was off all last week. Hunted every day and this has got to be one of the worst deer seasons in OklahomaI have ever seen. I did pass on some small bucks. And did shoot an 8 point. Hunting all week long I only saw 3 Doe and maybe 10 bucks. Sat many times without seeing a deer. The 8 point I shot is something I would usually pass on. But this year it's been the biggest buck I have seen. And with not many does around to fill my tags it was time to get some meat in the freezer. At the check station they told me this is the worst year they have ever had. And my buck was one of the biggest brought in. It's been hot and the wind on most days is blowing 25 MPH. I hope it's just a case of the deer not moving due to the weather. But I really think the deer herd in my area is on the decline.

I'll agree that is has been an odd season. For starters the weather is crazy, Saturday morning I had mosquitos flying around me...usually it's in the 40's and 50's not 80's!

None the less Saturday I was able to tag out and when I got to the processor they told me they have only had 18 deer brought in, and usually they have a freezer full by noon. Perhaps it is a slow year this year or the deer are on a decline? Wednesday it's supposed to get cold so maybe that will get them moving again for you.

Here's my Saturday hunt:

Sounds like my luck last year. This year has been good for me. Maybe next year will be better.

I just talkedto my buddy this morning and he is saying the same thing, it's hot and deer aren't moving. He said the rut has been horrible.

I hunt the Texas side of the Red River and have same problem. Put in a lot of hours this year and only seen one doe! I'll blame the heat but worry about deer populations( don't even see them along the roads at night).
