Oklahoma quail season

Our season opens this Saturday. Outlook is poor. Numbers way down. We had a long dry summer (record breaker) and now the quail numbers are down. BUT, have gun (and dog) will travel!!

Just curious to know how you did this weekend. All reports I heard were that quail were scarce and any they did find were sometimes as small as sparrows. What area?

We didn't go this weekend. Too many honey-dos.
Anyone get out after birds?

My buddies hunted in Harmon county last Saturday and Sunday and only moved on 4 coveys in 2 days and they had 5 dogs working. One area they hunted they didn't find a bird and it held at least 9 coveys last year. So it doesn't look good.
