What difference would that make if you do it everytime?

Yep!
I was wondering when this reply was going to be posted.

Other then an occasional conical bullet I might lube for old time sake, I have no use for bore butter.
Same here. i have bunch of very old 320 grain and 370 grain Maxi-Balls that the lube dried up and flaked off of. i use the otherwise useless Bore Butter to re-lube them.

And another that found rust under the bore butter. I will never use it again.

This is the first year i'm using maxiballs to hunt. As you all know they come with bore butter for lube. I'm still thinking of wiping it off, and using something else to lube. To be honest it works pretty good as a conical lube. I can take 7-8 shots without swabbing, and they're very accurate.

My concern is the BB getting hard in cold weather. I don't think it will be a concern though. I'll be reloading every morning, so the lube will be soft from being indoors. That takes care of the load in the gun. Then I have some speedloaders I use for follow up shots if needed. (never have needed). I'll carry a couple of speedloader in my front pocket of my pants. My body heat should keep them warm, and the BB soft.

That's the plan anyway.

btw Bore butter would be last on my list of all the products made in the world for rust preventative.

Cast iron is seasoned by prolonged heat over 400F and natural animal or plant fat based oils. There is no way BB will season a modern steel barrel with the millisecond of heat created by BP or subs.

Its not a skillet, dutch oven or a wok, its a modern steel barrel. Protect it like one.

Not sure why BB was brought up? The OP never said he was using it.

Yeah, but mine was at least on topic with bore rusting.

You started to talk about frying pans.
