I can't remember if it was here or at MM somebody wanted to see a pic of a shot ramrod.

I wrote this yesterday on another thread.

I had a bad day myself shot out a ramrod on a gun i just got.Always wondered how some one could do this.Gonna take pics and post tomorrow part of the rod is still stuck in the target. Then went and got my old gun with the wooden ramrod got it stuck with a patch, tried to pull it out andgot it to the top, and the rod broke. That's when i stopped, i was wanting to shoot more but, no way i was gonna take a chance on another gun.

So here is the pic this was the fifth shot out of the gun two you don't see for setting the scope. Then i was going to make a smiley face on the target.Set at 35 yards 60 gr 777 loose .490 rball. And in one case all that and a ramrod.

ThenSemisanesaid;Other than that junkie, how did your day go?

So here is my answer to you Semi.I broke the threaded stud off my jag.

well at least no one was hurt. That is the main thing. Of course, ramrods are more expensive then bullets, but looks lethal. Cool pictures, thanks for posting.

It's the old rule of three, where bad things come in threes. Maybe you've got them all out of the way in one trip. Bummer anyway.

EDIT: By the way, don't say "I'll NEVER do that again". I have two hickory rods somewhere in the piney woods. But I'd bet hickory doesn't kick near as bad as brass.

Friendof mine shot his ramrod from his gun and it surprised all of us. Thank God no one got hurt.

One thing bad about MLs, you must not getdistracted when working with one.

If the broken tip was not reseated on the powder charge before dischargingyou are lucky if the barrel was not damaged.

If you have been shooting for any length of time, you wouldn't ask that question. Remember Murphy? He is always alive and well, especially when it comes to weapons. I have a friend who has been shooting as a skirmisher for overthirty years andheshot his ramrod just last year. All it takes is to get distracted while loading your rifle.

i been shooting for 38 years.

dad bought us all hawkins.50 cal in aug 1970.

in fact, i just ordered 1300 balls and 10 lbs of 3f from grafs/son.

i get around 100 shots per 1 lb can of 3f.

so, you can see i shoot a LOT.

I AGREE ON BEING DISTRACTED,THINGS CAN HAPPEN,FOR SURE.
